Is IT in You????

Posted 3/22/2008 11:16am by Tracy Youngblood.

Is going "greener" one of your challenges to yourself this year?  Buying from local producers of meat, dairy, eggs and produce is one way to do this.  You can become a locavore!

I believe this is something that begins to grow in you.  It may be a challenge at first because of the seemingly extra time and money associated with using your local sources.  I think that is a misconception about our global view of the systems from which we buy our goods.

When you do buy local meat, produce, dairy or eggs you are supporting your community in a variety of ways.  The farmer, your neighbor, is able to continue to advance his earthly deed of raising things up from the magnificent soil God created.  You are keeping your money in your local economy.  There are whole books written on those benefits.  You are conserving fossil fuels in many ways; not contributing to the transportation of goods from around the world and also not traveling out of the area to purchase your food in a supermarket.  You are meeting someone face to face that has had a direct impact and interest in your well-being.  They are dedicated to seeing the finest quality produce, meat, dairy and eggs cross your table for many years to come.

Is   IT   in you?  Contact me if it is!! Let's get something started!
