Mushroom Beef!!

9/16/2009 4:18pm by Tracy Youngblood
Good Day Friends of the Farm,

Mushrooms are beginning to grow along with the grass!  Might this be a new flavor for our beef!  We doubt it!  There are abundant fungi in our fields, yard and about. This attests to the amount of rain we have had.  It also attests to soil health.  The cattle, sheep and goats really aren't interested in mushrooms.  Now, the pigs, they are likely to try it! At least once!

As you are becoming familiar with us, you will realize that the farm is our passion.  We are committed to healthy soils which bring about healthy grass, then healthy animals and ultimately is consumed by you.  Our animals are not given antibiotics, hormones, steriods, or GRAIN.  They are not managed on fields with herbicides or pesticides.  This takes a daily input of our time, energy and efforts to provide for their nutritional needs.

We are sometimes asked how our meat prices compare with super-chain grocers like Wal-Mart.  Yes, our grass-fed meat is higher than meat you will find in Wal-Mart.  Here are some reasons why:

*Our meat is 100% meat.  In no way is our meat injected with "up to a
12-20% solution"  (wonder what comprises that solution)
*Our meat is not mass-produced in feedlots or confinement.
*Our meat is not processed in huge, yet efficient factories.
*Our meat is not subsidized.

We know each animal, it's temperment and birth parents.  We are in control of that animal till it leaves our farm to be readied for your plate.

In years past, I had no interest in the health of my food.  I did have an interest in my health and my family's.  However, it was not until about 3 1/2 years ago that I realized the two are related:  healthy food equals a healthy family.  Just ask someone who manages a family member or themselves with autism, M.S., celiac disease, Crohn's disease,  or epilepsy, as well as others.  They are finding proof that eating foods that are "originally" healthy (from their origin) is a huge factor in that member's health as they deal with their disease or condition.
So even if the health of your food doesn't interest you now, it may in the future.  Keep in mind what eating produce without pesticides or beef without grain/steriods can do for and your family.

Buying Clubs
As I have mentioned, we are setting up buying clubs in Mena and Texarkana.  I would be open to delivering to DeQueen also.  A buying club is a an efficient way for you to get clean meat.  You place an order with me, email or call.  I will put it together and deliver it to your city location.  Buying club members will be the first to receive updates on availability of new products, ie: the return of the pork chop, introducing link sausages and franks!
I am starting a list for each city.  Please email me if you are interested in being on the list for YOUR town.  Your only responsibility is to order meat when you want, pay for it and pick it up!

Buying club delivery will start about the middle or end of October.

I will finish out September at the markets in DeQueen, Mena and Texarkana.  Come see me there, too!!

Cow~pooling
If you have a little freezer space you should consider buying meat in bulk.  It is the most economical way to purchase grassfed products.  If you buy a rib-eye steak from me at the market, you pay $13.50/lb.  Grass fed beef (steaks and all) purchased by the quarter or half is around $5/lb or less!
*********We have a half or 2 "split" quarters available. ***********

Remember to find us on Facebook!  I will be throwing out some deals to our fans there!!!

Join the buying club for your city today! Give me a call or email.

Be Blessed, Tracy
